Eggplant yields well but the borer can ruin most fruit if ignored.
Integrated approach
- Remove and destroy wilted shoots as soon as you see them; the larva is inside.
- Pheromone traps show when moths arrive and reduce numbers.
- Clean field: remove crop residues and rotate out of eggplant for a season.
- Spray only on threshold, rotating products, and keep a safe waiting period before picking.
Other care
Eggplant likes warmth and steady water. Stake plants that carry heavy fruit, and feed with potassium after fruit set. Pick glossy fruit before seeds harden.
