A written plan helps you time every step in a protected crop.
Sequence (example for a long cycle)
- Week 0–4: nursery. Raise seedlings under net, harden before transplanting.
- Week 4–5: transplant into prepared beds or bags with drip lines in place; irrigate lightly first.
- Week 5–10: establishment. Train, tie and remove side shoots; start regular feeding.
- Week 10 onward: production. Increase potassium; pick every 1–3 days.
- Throughout: scout weekly, manage ventilation, record water and feed use.
Key practices
- Train and prune to keep a single, well-lit stem.
- Adjust feeding as the plant moves from growth to fruiting.
- Manage humidity and airflow to limit disease.
- Hygiene: remove old leaves, clean tools, rotate or sterilise soil between crops.
Adjust dates to your climate, variety and market windows.
