In hot regions, the main greenhouse problem is not cold but heat and humidity.
Ventilation
- Roof vents let hot air rise out; side vents let cooler air in, creating natural airflow.
- Size openings to about a quarter to a third of the floor area as a guide.
- Fans help in still conditions.
- Insect screens protect crops, but reduce airflow, so make vents bigger.
Shading
- Shade nets (30–50%) or whitewash cut radiation and temperature at midday.
- Use retractable shading where you can, so crops get full light in cooler hours.
Other cooling
Evaporative pads and fans or fogging can drop temperature a few degrees in dry climates. Humidity control matters to avoid disease.
Monitor
Use a simple max-min thermometer and a humidity gauge and adjust daily.
