Packing is part of the product when you export.
Know the buyer's spec
Bag material (jute, polypropylene or liner), net weight per bag, sewing, labelling language, lot and batch numbers, and food-safety documents. Ask early, in writing.
Practical points
- Weigh accurately and fill to the net weight with a small tolerance.
- Mark clearly: product, origin, grade, net and gross weight, lot number and shipper.
- Use clean, new or properly inspected bags; avoid taint.
- Protect against moisture, especially for sea freight: dry grain, liners where needed and container desiccant where specified.
- Fumigation and certificates as required by importing countries (phytosanitary, origin, quality).
Keep records
Photos of loading, sample retention and copies of documents help resolve any claim.
